IEA Commentary: Are aviation biofuels ready for take off?

The International Energy Agencyâ€™s Sustainable Development Scenario anticipates aviation biofuels reaching around 10% of aviation fuel demand by 2030, and close to 20% by 2040. Cost premiums for biofuels over fossil fuels could be negligible on some flights.

Energy from waste and a circular economy

Food scraps sent to the waste-to-energy plant at Wollert, in Melbourne's north, feed a hungry beast. The plant owned and run by Yarra Valley Water can process up to 33,000 tonnes of food waste every year, enough to power about 2,000 homes.
