Australian Sugar Milling Council (ASMC)

The Australian Sugar Milling Council (ASMC) is the peak industry organisation for the raw sugar manufacturing sector. We represent sugar manufacturing companies which collectively produce 85% percent of Australia’s raw sugar at sugar mills in Queensland.
The Australian sugar industry each year produces around:
• 4 million tonnes of raw sugar from 30 million tonnes of cane
• 1 million MWh’s of renewable co-generated electricity
• 65 million litres of ethanol
The industry employs 20,000 people, generates $2.2 billion in revenues and contributes around $4 billion in Gross Domestic Product.
