Bio Based Aviation and Marine Fuels Summit Recap

Published Fri 06 Mar 2020

Last week we welcomed over 100 delegates to the Bio Based Aviation and Marine Fuels Summit in Gladstone. The event was an overwhelming success, with plenty of discussion about the potential for biofuels particularly across the aviation and marine sectors. Presentations can be accessed here and pictures from the event are here.

We also held an exceptional visit to the Northern Oil facility to experience a site tour of the most advanced re-refining plant of its kind. It was great to see the processing of waste lube oil and all the amazing research, testing and refinery work being achieved on site.

We would like to extend a special thankyou to Gladstone Regional Council, the Queensland Government Department of State Development, Life Sciences QLD and our sponsor CEFC for supporting the summit.

We would also like to thank the Hon. Cameron Dick, Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning for taking the time to join us and for his Department’s continued support for this sector. During his address, Minister Dick announced two Waste to Biofutures funding grants. These grants will secure take-off for Gevo's sustainable aviation fuel project, as well as contribution to sugarcane waste research for Burdekin biorefinery managed by Licella. See announcements here.
