Over the last decade the deployment of renewable biochemicals has been disappointing. Without support from Governments, it is simply too easy to continue to use plentiful and cheap non-renewable sources of carbon to produce biochemicals.

However, technology continues to improve and there are a multitude of exciting opportunities to deploy equivalent or superior products into the future in the field of biochemicals.

 Ed De Jong - Ed is Vice President Development, Renewable Chemistries at Avantium (Dutch renewable chemical company).  Ed is also a deputy leader of IEA Task 42.

 Geoff Bell - Geoff is the CEO of Microbiogen.  Microbiogen is a leading developer of superior yeast for a range of   applications including biofuels from sugar streams.
