FEEDBACK REQUIRED: Economic Recovery Proposal

Published Mon 27 Apr 2020

Whilst the Coronavirus pandemic has presented us with plenty of challenges (putting it mildly), it has also altered the political landscape, inducing an appetite for change, and necessitating substantial government intervention to support and strengthen Australia’s economy.

Seizing this opportunity, the team at Bioenergy Australia have worked quickly to develop a green economic recovery package for the government’s consideration. Sincere thanks to our members who provided guidance and feedback; what we received was voluminous and varied, but we did our absolute best within the severe time constraints to consider each view and make the necessary changes. If you don’t see your feedback represented in the final paper, rest assured it had been taken seriously – this is just the first stage of what will be a lengthy, collaborative process to refine and deliver something meaningful for Australia. We have collated all of your excellent feedback for consideration and incorporation throughout the process. What’s most important right now is that we have a seat at the table.

The final paper is available here for you to view.

Our next piece of work is to provide a suite of real world examples, demonstrating how the proposed stimulus measures will get actual projects off the ground, quantifying what this will return in economic terms.

Sticking to the provided dot point format, we’d be grateful if you could contribute examples of projects, citing:

  • Project size
  • How proposed stimulus measures would support your project
  • Expected no. of jobs created
  • Anticipated outcomes (waste reduction/emissions reduction etc)

Thank you once again for your support. This is an unprecedented opportunity to advocate strongly for the needs of our sector. We need to act quickly to communicate the immensity of what we have to offer for the betterment of our nation.
