Media Release from Bundaberg Regional Council

Local industry can exchange ideas with state and national experts at the Bundaberg Bioeconomy Conference to make the most of the opportunities created by the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

Registrations are now open for the fifth annual conference which is set to be held on 3 and 4 September 2024 at the Bundaberg Multiplex and Convention Centre.

Delivered by Bundaberg Regional Council this year’s conference theme is maximising the Bundaberg Region’s bioeconomy to minimise the environmental impact of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics.

Over to days attendees can take part in insightful sessions with local, state and national speakers, including academics and industry experts presenting focused sessions on sustainable aviation fuel, biogas and carbon sequestration.

Networking opportunities will also create connections and dedicated site tours will provide valuable insights into local industry and the Bundaberg Region’s innovative bioeconomy sector.

Mayor Helen Blackburn said this industry-focused event showcased the bioeconomy and opportunities throughout the Bundaberg and Wide Bay Burnett Regions.

“Our region has a rich history of making products to eliminate waste and innovating,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“We maintain a strong agricultural and manufacturing industry which sees us well placed to take advantage of opportunities in this space.

“The fifth annual Bundaberg Bioeconomy Conference is suited for those engaged in the regional, state, national and international bioeconomy sector including growers, processors, innovators, end users of biomass, researchers, investors and those with an interest in circular economy.”
