Neste, the world's largest producer of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) becomes the newest member of Bioenergy Australia (BA). BA CEO Shahana McKenzie has welcomed Neste to the membership, and to the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Alliance of Australia & New Zealand (SAFFANZ). SAFFANZ exists to create a collaborative environment to advance sustainable aviation fuel production, policy, education and marketing in Australia and New Zealand.

“We are delighted to have Neste join us, as a key player in the global SAF industry, we look forward to having their involvement in SAFFANZ to develop Australia’s SAF industry”.

“We are working together with our members to develop an industry that will create jobs, provide a commercially viable and environmentally sustainable supply of low carbon fuels for aviation, and implement policy and regulations to ensure a successful industry”, she has said. “Ultimately we are wanting to reduce carbon emissions associated with air travel”.

In addition to SAFFANZ, Neste will also be a part of Bioenergy Australia's Cleaner Fuels Alliance and will look to share its experience in decarbonising road transport across Australia.

“We are very pleased to join Bioenergy Australia and contribute our expertise in SAF and renewable diesel”, says James Williamson, General Manager at Neste Australia. “Since establishing our presence in Australia (in 2019), Neste has been investing in Australian infrastructure, and we will continue to work with Australian Agri-Energy businesses to develop low carbon solutions."

Neste has been sourcing renewable raw materials such as waste animal fat, and used cooking oil from Australia for its global production in renewable and circular solutions for many years. In November 2019, Neste opened its office in Melbourne, Australia to be closer to its partners for raw materials sourcing.
