The ACT Government’s Direct Grants program will provide over $1.1 million of funding as part of the Renewable Energy Innovation Fund (REIF). REIF is an industry funded initiative specifically designed to help drive the long-term development of the ACT’s renewable energy industry. Applications for the Direct Grants program will close on 29 February.
The Direct Grants program seeks to provide flexible, early-stage funding to support a broad range of new and emerging technologies and ventures with the potential to deliver on the energy vision of the future. It also aims to support the development of the ACT as an export-oriented hub for renewable energy innovation and investment.
The REIF Direct Grants program will support a broad range of funded activities that will contribute to the development of Canberra's renewable energy innovation ecosystem by focussing on demonstration and scale-up of new technologies and ventures.
Bioenergy projects can potentially be eligible for the REIF Direct Grants, according to the REIF Clean Tech Program Guidelines.
Projects funded by REIF Direct Grants must align with the following research, education and business sectors:
- Renewable energy generation science, engineering and social science
- Energy storage science, engineering and social science
- Energy generation asset management
- Distributed energy grid and market integration
- Solar and wind resource forecasting and mapping
- Electrification in the transport, residential and building sectors
- Other emerging technologies such as hydrogen and biogas innovation
- Innovative socially impactful projects in the clean energy sector that drive behavioural change.
